Volume#1 / Issue #5Greetings... This month's featured article - Clarity: The First Step Toward Your Ideal Life I help entrepreneurs get better results with less effort. Are you tired of struggling with
your business everyday?
Lets begin with a metaphor For a moment, please imagine yourself in this situation… You are sitting comfortably in a fancy restaurant at a table with a crisp white linen tablecloth and a bouquet of colorful fresh flowers. The tuxedoed waiter arrives and places a basket of warm rolls on the table. You can smell the warm bread as the waiter bows slightly, smiles and asks, "do you know what would you like?" You reply "I don't really know what I want, just bring me something good." Soon after, the waiter proudly delivers an incredible looking Mexican dish. You look up and say, "I don't like Mexican food, why did you bring me this? The waiter responds "you asked for something good, and this is the most popular dish we have"! That metaphor perfectly represents how some people live their entire lives. Without ever asking for, or even knowing what specifically to ask for. We must be able to clearly define what we want out of life to make it happen. My friend John Assaraf said it perfectly "We
are the architects of our own life". Clarity IS the first step towards designing
your ideal life. Clarity, simply stated, is knowing what you really want. Once you have clarity about what it is you want in any area of your life, you can make it happen relatively quickly. Let me give you an example from my own life: When I was starting out in business I owned a restaurant and I wore all the hats: Cook, bookkeeper, purchasing, HR, sales, cleaning, management, etc. After a couple of years I began to resent the business and felt unhappy. I couldn't understand why I was so unhappy because I was making good money and the business was successful, but I felt like a trapped animal. Clarity was the first step for improving my situation. In this instance, I was more aware of what I didn't want, than what I did want, so I utilized the Law of Polarity: Everything has a complete opposite. My problem was, that I felt "trapped". What is the opposite of being trapped? “Freedom"! I wanted more freedom. Awakened by this clarity, I devised a plan to restructure my business to allow me the freedom I needed. It didn't take long before everything came together and I had the business and life of my dreams. The story above sounds quick, easy and simple. Truth is, it took me two years of being miserable before I actually took action to change it. We entrepreneurs are a tough bunch – we'll take a lot of misery and just accept it. I'm here to tell you, you don't need to operate that way – there is a better way – I found it, and it improved my life and business dramatically! You deserve to live the life of your dreams – this is not a dress rehearsal! I can help! When you are ready to take the first step toward your ideal life, here are some tips to help you get started…. Step 1: Evaluate where you are NOW in the main areas of your life: Health; Relationships with spouse, friends, family; Business, your role or position, your success, your accomplishments; Your Personal Growth; Your Spiritual Growth. Worksheets are available to you FREE on my website, go to FREE RESOURCES and click on CLARITY Worksheets. Step 2: Explain where you would be in the main areas of your life in your Ideal Life: Health; Relationships with spouse, friends, family; Career or Business, your Finances, Your Personal Growth; Your Spiritual Growth. Once you complete these exercises you will have some Clarity on what you want to order for your life (remember the restaurant scenario). Then, you can begin to develop a plan to make it happen! Next month: Decision (Going forward and burning the ships) “When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes
easier” “People with goals succeed because they know where they are going… It’s as simple as that.” – Earl Nightingale “Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse…you must first BE who you really are, then DO what you need to do, in order to HAVE what you want” – Margaret Young “Focus on where you want to go, not on what you fear” – Anthony Robbins Investing in You For the Greatest Return!Your second greatest asset is Time - are you investing it wisely? Here's a very helpful exercise for you to try: For a couple days, complete time logs. Write down everything you do all day to see where your time is spent. After you complete the logs, analyze them and mark all the things that could be delegated, removed or ignored. Make a list of the "key" things you do in your business that produce the greatest results or value. Review your logs, how much of your time is actually being spent on those "key" things that produce the greatest result or value? Make a two-week commitment to increase your time to be spent on "key" activities by 25%. You'll be amazed what it will do for your bottom-line results and productivity. Your number one greatest asset is YOU! Are you really taking care of yourself? It is vital for entrepreneurs to make time for their own personal growth and development. If you don't continue to grow and expand, neither will your business. How much time do you spend improving yourself on a daily basis. Action: What are some ways you could improve yourself every day. Take a class, read, Subscribe to trade related materials and read them, work with a coach, listen to tapes, exercise, meditate, eat a healthy well-balanced diet, don't forget to make time for fun activities too! Choose something that you feel would have the greatest impact on your personal growth - commit to it (schedule it) every day for two weeks.
