The Law of Attraction
The Awesome Power of Deliberate Creation

In this month’s newsletter, I want to share with you one of my most treasured resources in my personal toolkit, one that has helped me have the kind of life and business that I had always dreamed of.

I have studied and practiced the Law of Attraction for the past four or five years and have found it to be one of the most powerful tools for success I have ever learned. I will explain a bit about what the Law of Attraction is, how it has changed my life, and offer some additional resources for more exploration, if you are interested.

Definitions and Examples

“Law of Attraction”: Like attracts like. Or Energy attracts like energy.

I heard a description from Rebecca Hanson, which I like:

“We become a magnet for whatever we focus on, whether wanted or not.”

Focus is energy flow. As we see, observe, feel, ponder, imagine, envision, focus on or pay attention to anything, we begin, by the Law of Attraction, to draw those things to us. We live by this law even if we are not fully aware that we do.

How does it work?

All things seen and unseen are energy. Energy vibrates at a certain frequency, and so it naturally resonates with and attracts things of the same frequency. You are already experiencing the Law of Attraction, even if you’re not aware of it.

Attention to something is attraction of that something. The more attention you pay to something, the more attention it pays to you.

Have you ever bought a new car and then started seeing those same cars everywhere? They were there before you bought yours, but now you have changed your point of focus. This is Law of Attraction!

So if you have a belief about something, whether it is a limiting belief or empowering belief (see www.winningthegameofbusiness.com/archives for more about beliefs), you will attract the evidence you need to prove your point. You literally attract that evidence through your thoughts and feelings. Remember, your thoughts and feelings determine your vibrations, and your vibrations determine what you attract.

This energy in motion fulfills both our dreams and our nightmares.

Focusing on something unwanted in an attempt to change it is impossible. It just brings more of the same. Example: Try not to think of a pink elephant.

The big “aha” for me around Law of Attraction has been Deliberate Creation—the conscious knowing and use of Law of Attraction. I realized that I could change my focus from what I do not want and shift it towards what I do want. If I have thoughts or strong emotions that do not feel good, I use those as a message that I need to shift my focus. I start to look for ways to shift towards a thought that feels better, even just a little bit. If am depressed, getting angry is a little better. I raise my vibration to a higher place so that now I can get to next higher vibration, maybe frustration. You can progress right up the scale to hope and action. Usually I can identify what I am wanting because it is the polar opposite of what I do not want.

Knowing and using this Law has allowed me to feel no longer like a victim or that life is a matter of chance or luck. I get to co-create my experience through my thoughts. (This realization was Big Stuff!)

Example: If you were to do a search on google and put in “how not to be sick,” guess what you would come up? Articles about sickness. We need instead to input “how to live healthy.” Our minds work in a similar way to an Internet search engine. We need to choose the thoughts we want to expand and focus on those.

Choosing where to put our focus is deliberate creation. We don’t get to choose all our thoughts, but we do get to choose the ones on which we desire to focus on.

One more example : The first airplane would never have successfully marked its first flight if the Wright Brothers had focused on how not to stay on the ground. Instead they focused on their desired result: a successful flight!

There is no defying or denying the Law of Attraction: that what goes out must come back. What we are experiencing in our inner world will come back to view us in our outer world, as a mirror reflection of who we have become.

Law of Attraction in My Own Life

In my early twenties, I suffered a long period of depression; no matter what I did, I could not shake it. Looking back now, I see that my thoughts and my constant focus kept me repeating the same cycle over and over again. I kept manifesting the same reality (depression). My thoughts followed a familiar pattern: I feel so bad. I just don’t want to feel this bad. Why do I feel so bad?

My focus actually needed to be on what I really wanted, which was the polar opposite of what I was experiencing. Somehow I managed to finally get angry—a step up from being depressed—and then continued to climb out towards feeling better. I have spent the past 25 years feeding my desire to feel good instead of being afraid of feeling depressed. Guess what? Most of the time, I feel pretty good.

All action is the result of prior thoughts, not the other way around.

How can knowing about the Law of Attraction benefit you?

If thoughts are things, which I believe they are, then we can use this powerful law deliberately to achieve whatever results we desire.

Deliberate Creation is the conscious and knowing use of the Law of Attraction.

How? By getting vibrationally in alignment with what you desire.

I call it, “Fake it Till You Make It;” others say, act as if what you desire is already here.

Let me give you one final example: I had a very strong desire a few years back for a new car, so I decided to get in vibrational alignment with this experience that I desired. First I visited all the dealers, looking at their cars, and learning about them. Then I found my grandest desire. It was the perfect car, the one that really rang my bell. Next, I decided to take a picture of me sitting in the car. I put that picture on my office wall, so I could see it on a daily basis. (I loved seeing myself enjoying that car.)

My next step was to see if I could buy one of those babies, but when I saw the price of $55,000, I immediately felt lousy (noticing what I did not want). It was too much money to spend on a car, in my opinion. So I decided to let the desire go. It was not that I did not have the money; it just did not feel good to pay that much for a car.

Two years later, that very same car was turned into the dealer with very low miles and in perfect condition. They phoned me, and we made the deal. The very same car that was in my picture two years previously is now in my driveway. Pretty cool!

I could share many more stories like these since I have been deliberately using the Law of Attraction.

Additional resources for further exploration

So why am I sharing this information about Law of Attraction with you? This is not your usual business success stuff.

If you feel these ideas are way too far out there, then do as I have always said about any information: use what makes sense to you and leave what does not. If you are already attracting everything you desire, then maybe this is not for you. But what if with daily practice you could attract anything you want? What would it be for you?

…. there is only love/abundance/joy and any experience otherwise is either our blocking or resisting that natural flow, or just a reminder/feedback of how to experience that love/abundance/joy ?

What if ….

.... I can create my entire experience as I choose to?
